ST.Pat's School Visit

St. Pat's grade 4 classes will be touring the golf course this week.  Watch for them on Thursday May 28 from noon - 2 pm.

TURF NEWS Q & A

Q.  Why did you not sand the greens after aeration?

A.  It was planned, but due to the rain events the previous two days before aerating, we were unable to.  But, the open holes actually help release gases from the soil and is just as beneficial.  

Q.  Why do you have little white posts around the paths , and what are the wood barriers for?

A.  The posts and the wood barriers are for cart traffic control.  Carts cause the most compaction on golf courses.  Keeping carts on cart paths and controlling where they drive is of the utmost importance to ensure the turf survives.  

Q. What is the rule on the environmentally sensitive area on #16?

A.  It is treated like a lateral hazard. It is red staked, the only difference is we do not want cart traffic of any kind going into the area.  Last year deer fawns would bed down in this area and be able to stay concealed.  It is there for nature, just happens it also saves water!

Connaught's OWN Champions in the Victoria Day Tournament

Congratulations to our own Pat Hall for winning the Women's Championship Flight in the Victoria Day Classic this May 16th to May 18th. Way to go Pat.
And of course, congratulations to Jean Nitchke for winning the Women's First Flight in the Tournament. Connaught Golf Course is proud of you both!!
